Among 5500 students at the University of Zadar, there are 88 students with disabilities. In order to provide the right to equal access to education guaranteed by the Constitution, the University of Zadar tries to ensure conditions for successful studying as much as possible.
With the aim to ensure conditions for quality and equally accessible education of current and future students with disabilities, the University of Zadar has organised a string of activities through the Student Counselling Centre, and encouraged the foundation of the Committee for the Students with Disabilities. The committee was founded on 7 March 2014. Since 9th February 2016 the Committee's president is Professor Nedjeljka Balić Nižić, PhD Vice-Rector for Studies and Student Matters.
The committee helps in solving the problems of students with
- visual impairment
- hearing impairment
- motor disorders, physical disability
- multiple impairments
- chronic diseases
- mental illnesses and disorders
- learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD)
- other health conditions or difficulties that can influence the course of study
